How thermal bonding works
A lower-melting sheath surrounds a polyester core. During heating, the sheath softens and bonds adjacent fibers; the core helps retain the structure. The range describes 110–150°C activation options, with 110°C grades in the table. Confirm the actual grade's thermal profile rather than treating this range as an oven setting.
Match the grade to the application
The 4D range includes 38, 51 and 64 mm cut lengths, virgin and recycled material, and white or black options. Applications include automotive headliners and acoustic panels, trunk liners, rigid wadding, high-density filters, palm or coir mattress layers, imitation-silk wadding and bonded filling.
Plan a representative line trial
Specify the base fiber blend, binder percentage, web weight, heating method and dwell time. Compare bond strength, stiffness, loft, recovery and dimensional stability after cooling. Thermal bonding can reduce reliance on liquid adhesives in suitable constructions; emissions, energy use and safety require evaluation of the actual process.
